Statement of Service Performance
What is a Statement of Service Performance?
Your Statement of Service Performance “tells the story” of your organisation’s achievements over the past year using non-financial information. It shows the real-world difference your charity is making in the community, highlighting the outcomes you’ve delivered and the people you’ve helped. Demonstrating your positive impact helps build trust with funders, supporters, and any other stakeholders.
An SSP typically involves two main elements:
-
The qualitative impact or change your organisation seeks to deliver to the community (e.g. reducing homelessness, providing clean water, improving literacy)
-
The specific quantitative figure for goods or services delivered during the year to work toward the above outcomes (e.g provided 100 beds, built 100 water taps, printed 100 books)
In the context of service performance reporting, "appropriate and meaningful" is the standard benchmark used to decide what information to include in your report.
If your charity meets the threshold for a statutory audit or independent review, our procedures will extend to your SSP, and our aim will be to help you ensure that your service performance reporting meets this ideal standard.
