Agreed-upon Procedures

What are agreed-upon procedures?

Agreed-upon procedures engagements (AUP) are specific test procedures we carry out on certain financial or non-financial information, as agreed between ourselves and you as our client.

These engagements are designed to address particular questions or key areas of focus. Unlike audits or reviews, AUP engagements do not provide assurance and do not result in an opinion or conclusion. Instead, we report only the factual findings arising from those procedures we have performed.

AUP engagements are particularly useful where stakeholders require independent verification of specific information rather than a general assurance over a complete set of financial statements.

When are agreed-upon procedures appropriate?

AUP engagements are best used where there is a clearly defined purpose and scope, and where the users of our report are able to draw their own conclusions based on the findings we've presented.

    • Verification of specific balances, transactions or disclosures.

    • Examination of grant or funding conditions.

    • Review of compliance with contractual or regulatory requirements.

    • Targeted financial or operational procedures requested by funders, trustees or management.

    • Support for due diligence or internal governance requirements.

The procedures we use will align with your specific needs in any given engagement. We won't just tick boxes and follow checklists, we will deliver exactly the tailored test procedures and factual findings you have asked for.

What type of report is provided?

Our agreed-upon procedures engagements result in a factual findings report. This report will describe the procedures we have performed as well as the results observed, without interpretation, opinion or conclusion. Its use is typically restricted to the specific purposes we have agreed to with you. Whether you are looking at grant & funding compliance, R&D tax incentives, due diligence or even just a simple internal control review, Signal Audits will ensure you and your stakeholders receive clear, objective, and high-quality results.
